Breaking down some of the craziest stats and records from Week 4 of the 2025 College Football season.

Another week of the 2025 College Football season is in the books, and Week 4 provided us with a ton of historic moments for several programs.
Here is a summary of some of the craziest stats and records from Week 4:
#9 Illinois and #19 Indiana played in a ranked matchup against each other for the first time since 1950.
#19 Indiana defeated #9 Illinois 63-10. The Hoosiers’ 63 points against the 9th-ranked Illini are the most scored against a Top 10 opponent by a Big Ten team in conference history.
Indiana’s 63 points against #9 Illinois are the most scored against a ranked opponent in program history.
With their victory over the Illini, Indiana improved to 4-0. Paired with last season’s 4-0 start, the Hoosiers have started 4-0 in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 1985-1986.
In that victory over Illinois, Indiana had 56,088 fans in attendance. That is their highest single-game attendance in program history.
Following their victory over Illinois, Indiana moved up to #11 in the AP Poll. That is the highest they’ve been ranked in the month of September since 1969.
Indiana has scored 55+ points in each of their last three games (56 on Kennesaw State, 73 on Indiana State, 63 on Illinois). This is just the 3rd time in Big Ten history that a team has scored 55+ points in three consecutive games.
Paired with last season’s high rankings toward the end of the year, Indiana has been ranked 12th or better in the AP poll in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
Tulsa defeated Oklahoma State 19-12. That is the Golden Hurricane’s first victory over the Cowboys since 1998 and their first victory over the Cowboys in Stillwater since 1951.
Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski became the first Hawkeye QB with a rushing touchdown in four consecutive games since 1968.
Rutgers had 55,942 fans in attendance for their Friday night matchup with Iowa. That is their highest single-game attendance in program history.
Clemson lost 34-21 to Syracuse, falling to 1-3 for the first time since 2004 (first 1-3 start under Dabo Swinney).
Syracuse defeated Clemson in Death Valley for the first time ever.
Clemson was favored by 17.5 points over Syracuse. Their loss to the Orange snapped a 50-game win streak in games where they were favored by 17+ points.
TCU wide receiver Eric McAlister had 254 receiving yards in the Horned Frogs’ 35-24 victory over SMU. His 254 receiving yards are the 2nd-most in a game in TCU history.
Louisville defeated Bowling Green 40-17 to improve to 3-0. Paired with their 3-0 starts in 2023 and 2024, the Cardinals have now started 3-0 in three consecutive seasons for the first time in program history.
Oregon State lost 41-7 to #6 Oregon, falling to 0-4. This is the first time the Beavers have started 0-4 since 2011.
#17 Texas Tech defeated #16 Utah 34-10, improving to 4-0. This is the first time the Red Raiders have started 4-0 since 2013.
Mississippi State defeated Northern Illinois 38-10, improving to 4-0. This is the first time the Bulldogs have started 4-0 since 2014.
#7 Florida State defeated Kent State 66-10. Paired with their 77-3 victory over East Texas A&M in their previous game, the Seminoles have scored 65+ points in back-to-back games for the first time since 1992.
In that victory over Kent State, the Seminoles rushed for 498 yards. Those 498 rushing yards are the most in a game in Florida State history.
Florida State rushed for 8 touchdowns against Kent State. Those 8 rushing touchdowns are the most in a game in Florida State history.
Vanderbilt defeated Georgia State 70-21. Their 70 points against the Panthers are their most in a game in 1918.
Vanderbilt has scored 30+ points in each of their first four games (45 on Charleston Southern, 44 on Virginia Tech, 31 on South Carolina, 70 on Georgia State). This is the first time the Commodores have scored 30+ in their first four games of a season since 1916.
Vanderbilt’s victory over Georgia State improved their record to 4-0. The Commodores are 4-0 for the first time since 2008.
Florida accounted for just 141 total yards on the road in their 26-7 loss to #4 Miami. Those 141 total yards are the Gators’ fewest in a game since 1999.
Paired with last week’s 10-point effort on the road against LSU, Florida has scored 10 points or less in consecutive games for the first time since 1989.
The Gators went 0-13 on 3rd down against the Canes, their worst 3rd down performance in a game since 1998.
In their 24-17 victory over #22 Auburn, #11 Oklahoma’s defense recorded 10 sacks, their most in a game in program history.
Colorado’s new buffalo, Ralphie VII, made its first run. :)
